DAY 14 – How Big is the Kingdom of God in My Life?

Often as I am getting ready for work and heading downtown I am praying for God to help me through the day.  I ask Him to:

– fill me with His Spirit

– help me be a light

– live large inside of me

– protect and guide my family

Sometimes I pray on the armour of God and ask for help in specific situations that I have coming up.

Corey Stickel recently posted this quote by Todd Adkins on Facebook: “If all your prayers were answered this week, would it change the lives of others or just yours?”

My life in general is focused from the inside out.  I find if I analyze my prayers I’m often asking God to change me, so I can change the world around me.  I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, however I think maybe I should be a little more outward focused.  I believe that one of the things God is asking me during this time to try praying that His kingdom comes in areas outside my daily influence – prayers that only He can answer.  Jesus prayed ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth…’  He didn’t pray ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done in my life’.   His vision of God’s kingdom was bigger.  Mine should be as well.
