This new life or new beginning is available to anyone who will simply ask and receive the free gift of salvation that only Jesus can give us. Salvation, meaning to be saved or set free from any form of captivity or oppression, makes a way for us to live a life that is free from our past limitations and free to be able to embark on a new adventure of faith and discovery.

To be saved means we make a free-will decision to invite Jesus into our heart (our inner life) as the new Lord of our whole life. It’s an act of surrender to God’s plan and purpose for our lives.

When we invite Jesus into our hearts, he sends his Holy Spirit into our lives to reveal the sinful thoughts and behaviors that were part of our old life! As they are revealed we can ask Jesus to forgive us for all our past sins, by owning them and saying sorry. When we say sorry or repent, Jesus immediately forgives us and His Holy Spirit will help us stay away from those old sinful ways of living in the future!

Romans 10:9 says: “If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Salvation is God’s free gift to us and we become His children.

It is an irrevocable acceptance into the family of God and it is an empowerment to live life wholly and fully with the purpose of reflecting God to the rest of His creation.

If you are not sure whether you are right with God or you know in fact that you need Jesus in your life, you can choose to follow Him right now by praying this simple prayer of surrender to Jesus.

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name. Amen.
